Sustainability

from the fact that these fuels run out, they also cause high CO2 emissions. This CO2 is harmful to the environment. Why? CO2 is the best known and most present greenhouse gas. Greenhouse gasses retain the heat of the earth, causing the earth to warm up. Global warming is already leading to the melting of ice at the North and South Poles. Water levels will rise, climates will change and the weather will become more extreme. These are all consequences of CO2 emissions. That is why CO2 reduction is very important.

The extent to which a process emits this CO2 greenhouse gas is called the CO2 footprint. The smaller this footprint becomes, the better.

ALUDEX and its suppliers attach great importance to sustainability. The production of aluminium has a high energy consumption using the traditional method. Because of this, it is an obvious choice to use for:

  • Green energy
  • Aluminium recycling

A good example of how ALUDEX is committed to sustainability is the innovative aluminium wing on ships. One of our customers produces this innovative aluminium wing, which can reduce air resistance and thus save up to 20% fuel. This in turn leads to a CO2 reduction of approx. 1000 kg per day. ALUDEX was able to supply three large aluminium profiles for this purpose.

In addition, ALUDEX also supplies aluminium profiles for solar panels, for example, in order to stimulate green energy.

Did you know that…?

  1. About 8% of the earth’s crust consists of aluminium (mainly in the mineral Bauxite).
  2. Aluminium can be recycled for 100% without a loss of mechanical properties.
  3. Recycling aluminium takes only 5% of the energy needed to produce new aluminium.

Despite the fact that aluminium is present in almost infinite quantities on earth, it is only really a sustainable metal if it is actually recycled as much as possible. This is what virtually all aluminium producing factories have focused on in recent years. Recycling aluminium not only saves 95% of energy costs but also 95% of CO2 emissions. Today, more than 75% of all aluminium is recycled.
